"Nourishing Body, Mind, and Soul"
Nourish yourself:
Having time to myself during my sabbatical was my favorite aspect of it. I came to understand how important it is to take it slowly, particularly when working on things that seem really essential. I valued having unstructured time to myself and being able to do as I pleased. I made an effort to get the eight hours of sleep every night that I need in order to feel refreshed when I get up. As part of my Optimistic Anthropology sabbatical design report, I listened to the Hurry Slowly podcast. The week I spent at Kripalu taking part in "yoga summer camp" was one of my highlights. With no electronics permitted on campus, Kripalu, a center for yoga and health, is a fantastic place to start over with good habits.
Make time for memorable experiences
Spending a lot of time with family and friends during my sabbatical was one of its many blessings. I decided right away that I wanted to do something unique and unforgettable with my two kids, who are now five and seven years old. I asked them to choose a location so that we could go on a two-day excursion together. On our trip to Michigan, my daughter and I went to the beach alone. Because he loves history so much, my son and I traveled to Kansas City to see the Truman and Eisenhower Presidential Libraries. During our car journeys, I have cherished memories of listening to the Hamilton soundtrack repeatedly. In addition, we visited friends and relatives in Boston, Chicago, Indianapolis, and Michigan. Explore the world around you
Well, if we're not feeling well, we can't work very well either. We need to look after our own wellbeing if being able to care for others is vital to us.
Though cliched, my favorite analogy for this is true. One of the first things a flight attendant will tell you when they start their safety presentation aboard an aircraft is, "If you're traveling with children or others who need assistance, put your oxygen mask on first."
Consider it. In the unlikely event that you fail to do so and pass out from a shortage of oxygen, nobody will receive the necessary assistance. There, lose/lose circumstances. Everyday, the same thing happens.
Consider what is important to you. Which comes first: community service, creative expression, family, or job advancement?
You can discover your basic values and use them to inform your decisions and actions by making a list of your priorities.
It's critical to match your activities with your values once you've determined what they are. It may be picking a career that allows you to change the world, sticking up for your principles, or spending time with people that improve your life.
Living a purposeful life is about living in accordance with your principles.
Continual Learning: Embracing a Lifetime of Growth
The pursuit of ongoing learning and growth is one of the most meaningful and fulfilling journeys we may embark on in the broad expanse of life. This never-ending journey not only broadens our horizons intellectually but also molds our viewpoints, stokes our passions, and gives us the ability to negotiate the ever changing fabric of life.
The Fundamentals of Ongoing Development
Starting a journey of continuous growth means accepting that learning is a continuous process that is always changing rather than something that happens only once. It's a way of thinking that permeates all aspect of our life and goes beyond conventional educational bounds.
